Healthy families are not an accident. They are a result of wise actions and wise decisions by wise parents. Some parents do this instinctively; they just know it intuitively. Many of us have to learn these things; they weren’t modelled to us. So how do we grow a healthy family?
ME AND MY REAL FAMILY: HEALTHY PARENTING

Proverbs 24:3 (NCV) It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong.
PRINCIPLES OF GOOD PARENTING
1. PREPARE YOUR KIDS FOR LIFE
Luke 2:52 Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God and all the people.
Deuteronomy 6:7 Repeat [these commands] again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.
2. PROTECT YOUR KIDS FROM HARM
Proverbs 14:26 Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children.
3. PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS FOR FUN
Psalm 127:3-5 Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
4. POINT YOUR KIDS TO GOD
Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
Hosea 4:6 My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me … Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.
Psalm 78:5-6 He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children.
Joshua 24:15 Choose today whom you will serve…. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.
