LIFE-GIVING HOPE
Acts 27:20 (NIV) When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.
Proverbs 13:12 (NIV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
3 SOURCES OF LIFE-GIVING HOPE
1. THE LIVING GOD
Psalm 62:5 (NIV) Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.
1 Timothy 4:10 This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God…
2. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS
1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
3. THE WORD OF GOD
Romans 15:4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
3 REALITIES OF LIFE-GIVING HOPE
1. THE PROMISE OF HOPE
Proverbs 23:18 (NIV) There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
2. THE DEPTH OF HOPE
Hebrews 6:18-19a Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
3. THE ACHIEVEMENT OF HOPE
Titus 3:7 (NIV) …having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
