Grace is a word of beauty, mystery and depth. Grace is like oxygen to the lungs; it is able to soften a heart. Grace brings healing and hope, and grace can transform a life.

FULLNESS: FULLNESS AND GRACE

Message by Bill Johnston – August 26, 2018

John 1:14-17

John 1:14 (NIV) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Luke 2:40 (NIV) And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

IMPLICATIONS OF GOD’S GRACE

1. COMING TO AN UNDERSTANDING

John 1:17 (NASB) For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

2. ACCEPTING THE OFFER

John 1:16 (NASB) For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.

3. BEING ALLOWED “IN”

Romans 5:2 (NIV) …we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

4. THE PRIVILEGE OF RELATIONSHIP

Romans 5:21 (NLT) So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

5. A CHANGE IN ALLEGIANCE

Romans 6:14 (NLT) Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

APPLICATIONS OF GOD’S GRACE

1. GOD’S GRACE IS ACCESSIBLE, EVEN WHEN THINGS ARE UNCERTAIN

Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

2. GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT, EVEN WHEN THINGS ARE DIFFICULT

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NLT) Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

3. GOD’S GRACE IS PRODUCTIVE, EVEN WHEN WE FEEL STUCK

2 Peter 3:18 (NIV) But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

4. GOD’S GRACE IS EXPANSIVE, EVEN WHEN THINGS ARE TIGHT

2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV) And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

5. GOD’S GRACE IS TRANSFORMATIONAL, EVEN WHEN WE FEEL DISQUALIFIED

1 Corinthians 15:10a (NASB) But by the grace of God I am what I am.
