Being a follower of Jesus, we are given the mission of taking Jesus to our neighbours and bringing our neighbours to Jesus. This was our 40th anniversary celebration and, in this last message of the series, Who Am I, Pastor Josh inspired us to press on with the vision that God placed on those families who began Westheights in the Forest Heights neighbourhood 40 years ago, helping people to find and follow Jesus.

WHO AM I?

Message by Josh Mutter – November 25, 2018

I AM A PRIEST

Exodus 19:6 NIV …you will be for me a kingdom of priests.

1 Peter 2:4-10 NIV  As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ … But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

THE ROLE OF A PRIEST IS TO:

1. Bring God to people

2. Bring people to God

CLOSING THOUGHTS

1. Being a priest means embracing the messy.

2. Being a priest means being intentional.

3. Being a priest means living a life of worship.

4. Being a priest means interceding for those who don’t yet know Jesus.

Pastor Josh referenced Nel Slater’s message about work and worship, in his closing thoughts. You can listen to Nel’s message by clicking below:
