PEACEFUL PRACTICES: ENGAGEMENT
Message by Josh Mutter – October 8, 2023
BIG IDEA: As a community, we have the skills to help one another navigate conflict.
The different approaches we have to conflict reflects the diversity that exists in the body of Christ.
– Our ability to navigate conflict well requires self-awareness and a willingness to learn.
– Five approaches to conflict:
-
- Avoid
- Compete
- Accommodate
- Collaborate
- Compromise
– Our ability to navigate conflict grows as we appreciate the strengths of others.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
