Read 1 John 16-19
This passage is an amazing description of what it means to love each other. This passage tells us that we know what true love is, only because Christ laid down his life for us. This is followed by the command that we ought to lay down our lives for each other. Many times the greatest illustrations of love is when one person gives up their life for another, but is this the only way that Christ laid down his life for us? (more…)
Sacrifice For Community
0This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. Genesis 17:10-11
Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved. This brought Paul and Barnabus into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabus were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem too see the apostles and elders about this question. Acts 15:1-2 (more…)
A Season of Sacrifice
0This morning I read Matthew 6:33 and it says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” I was reminded that this verse is saying, “Hey, don’t worry about the stuff that we tend to worry about. Don’t worry about the gifts. God’s in charge of those. He’s got them. It’s all His, anyway. Let him be in charge of them and everything will work out fine.” (more…)
