I’m feeling thankful for my House Church today. After a hard week it was so encouraging to see all these friends walking through our door last night with warmth and smiles, to relax and pray and share together. Someone said recently on the blog that when life gets busy, we tend to withdraw from other people. That’s my tendency too. So I’m glad for that regular Thursday night time that’s set aside to be with friends who support and encourage each other … And like to laugh a lot together too!
Just being with other people like this helps give me fresh perspective. Is this true for you too?
I couldn’t agree with you more, Melanie and Tanya! How many times do we feel like skipping out on get-togethers with friends or group meetings because we’re just “not up to it”? Those times seem countless in my life, and yet most of the time when I get up and go, I end up feeling refreshed by the conversation, care, humour and prayer support of “family.” Even if I don’t know others in the group well, our common focus often allows us to encourage each other in surprising ways. God loves and speaks to us through us!
I was thinking that very thought all day today. I can’t wait for the Tuesday morning women’s Bible study time. I love this time of sharing with other women in my church and community. I look forward to the light and heavy discussions we jump into, and always feel refreshed and like belonging.
I have struggled with moving to this city and finding a church home. It seems a bigger struggle with having two small children. It’s a little harder to make real friendships and cementing relationships when you are chasing or keeping an eye on an energetic 3 year old.
I am very thankful to the wonderful lady who looks after all of our children that morning (sorry I don’t remember her name) I will be sure to make a point of knowing it tomorrow. I’m determined to make that connection.
