Hello, everyone. So our House Church has just begun our series on the core values of the Brethren in Christ Church and we decided that it would be great to open things up for a community discussion. So we’re going to start a weekly blog conversation as we work through all the ten core values.
This week we were discussing the second core value which reads like this. “We value the Bible as God’s authoritative word, study it together, and build our lives on its truth.”
We had an awesome discussion on this on Tuesday night. We talked about how the Bible is ‘Revelation,’ because it shows us things about God that he wants us to know. The Bible is ‘Authority’ because it is the word of God. Also, the Bible is ‘Inspired’ because God spoke to people so that what he wanted written was written.
So let’s keep the discussion going. We brought up all sorts of difficult questions last night, I can’t even remember how many we went over. For those of you who were there, was there anything that stuck out? Are there any remaining unresolved questions that we talked about? For anyone who’s interested, feel free to bring up any questions of your own, like this; how can we know that the Bible is the reliable word of God? To what degree is faith necessary?
Looking forward to the conversation.
