This coming week we are having our annual Christmas Candelight services. If you have been around Westheights for a while, then you will know that the Christmas Candlelight service is one of the highlights of the year for us. And if you are new to Westheights – then you are in for a treat! It is a beautiful and moving service, filled with carols, candlelight, and, of course, the Christ.
As I said in an email and letter earlier this week, the Christmas Candlelight service is also the one time of the year that many people in our community will consider coming to church. Through the years we have received feedback from people on the impact that this meaningful service has had in their lives. So please consider inviting someone to attend the service with you.
In the past, we have given people an opportunity to contribute to a financial need at the Christmas Candlelight service. We do not pass the plate. We simply have gift boxes in the sanctuary and invite people to help towards a specific relief or development project that we are aware of. Money is never collected for the church at these services. This year, we are inviting the congregation to help our brothers and sisters in Leon, Nicaragua. A missions team from Westheights is preparing to go to Nicaragua at the end of January to build an addition to a church in the city of Leon. However, the team needs to raise the funds for building supplies. At our Christmas Candlelight services we are giving people an opportunity to be a part of this special project.
Don’t forget that we have services on the 23rd and the 24th. There is one service on Dec 23rd at 7:00 pm and two services on Dec 24th at 5:00 and 7:00 pm. All services are the same but the service on the 23rd is less crowded.
Thanks again to the worship team and the sound techs who commit to attending all three services (and practices) and willingly sacrifice family time for this outreach opportunity. You guys are great.
