London resident, formerly of KW area, looking for a place to sleep on Monday and Thursday nights in KW area. He commutes back and forth between London and Kitchener three days a week, but after a 12-hour workday does not feel it wise or safe to make the long commute back to London. He is a physiotherapist in Kitchener, briefly attended Westheights Church before moving to London where he and his wife currently attend Northpark Church.
His hours are such that you may barely notice his comings and goings; he will arrive at his accommodations around 8:00 pm, then leave the next morning by 7:00 am.
If you have the gift of hospitality (and with the capability) and might consider housing him a couple of sleeps a week, that would be very helpful… even if just on a defined short term basis. He has been going about the process of looking for a winter sublet around the UW and WL universities, but there is the expense and 4 month commitment that goes with that (he and his wife are in a tight spot financially) and an environment that may likely not be conducive to peace and rest. He has also looked at cheap motels and some independent research has shown that this is probably not a healthy way to go.
Contact Mimi (email email@example.com or call 519-741-1986, ext. 0) at Westheights Church for contact info if you can help in this area, or if you know of someone who can help.
Quoted from his email: “As I was searching on Kijiji for sublets, a thought came to me… many of the challenges I have come up against in life certainly involved me taking things into my own hands and not consulting with God in prayer before making decisions. Well, there has been no shortage of prayer by myself and Christian men in my circle in London on this decision and by sending this e-mail (even if no possibility arises from it) I can at least feel that I have not taken possibilities out of God’s hands in my human haste! As some background, I am 35 years old, non-smoker, saved for around 4 years, married for 2.5 years and been trying to withstand a rather significant amount of chiselling by the Lord our God over the last 2.5 years. I can provide references if required.”
Thanks to a Westheights Church family who generously opened their home to a person in need, this gentleman now has a place to land his head once in awhile.
