Psalm 23 (KJV)
Sometimes, as older persons, we have periods of times in the night when we cannot sleep. This Psalm is a great blessing to me at those times.
PSALM 23 – with Delores’ comments in italics
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
GOD is my Shepherd, why should I want?
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
Rest.
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
Peace.
He restoreth my soul.
Healing.
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Leading and power.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.
Not only physical death, but death of dreams, expectations, relationships. I will fear no evil. Why?
For thou art with me. Thy rod and staff, they comfort me.
He brings comfort in whatever death I experience. He is with me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
God provides everything I need in the spiritual battle.
Thou anointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over.
God’s blessings pour over me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever.
Hallelujah!
Thanks for this, Delores. This is really meaningful – I appreciate your thoughts and responses interspersed throughout the psalm.
