Daniel 5 – The Writing on the Wall
My favourite story in the Bible would have to be,“The Writing on the Wall” in Daniel 5. It would be my favourite because it is such a powerful story of what God can do. It started by King Belshazzar and his nobles, wives, and his concubines disobeying god. God was furious, so He sent a hand that wrote “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin”. Nobody knew what the hand wrote! Then He got Daniel to read it. It translated to:
-Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
-Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
-Parsin: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.
Like it said, the king was killed that very night! To me this story shows God’s amazing powers, to make a hand without a body, to make a language that nobody could read except someone who obeyed Him, and to have the message come true that very night is just, just amazing!
