On Saturday, April 22, we’ll be showing our neighbours at Forest Heights Long Term Care (right next door to Westheights) and beyond the love of God in practical ways. There are three ways to be involved:

OPTION ONE: OUTDOOR WORK

Bring your gloves and rubber boots, and let’s get working! Potential jobs include cleaning up the Forest Heights Long Term Care property and joining forces with the Forest Heights Community Association for a community litter clean-up. If you would like to help out, email Tom Fenske or sign up in the Westheights foyer. All ages welcome.

OPTION TWO: SPA SERVICES

Let’s pamper the residents at Forest Heights Long-Term Care with facials, hand massages, and manicures. RSVP to Charlene Neuman or sign-up in the Westheights foyer if you would like to be involved.

This project is suitable for kids in Grade 2 and up. Kids in Grades 2-5 should attend, accompanied by an adult.

OPTION THREE: COFFEE SERVICE AND INDOOR WORK

Care for and support the residents of Forest Heights Long Term Care by serving coffee and tea, handing out flowers to spa patrons, walking residents to and from their rooms, and possibly playing games. RSVP to Charlene Neuman or sign-up in the Westheights foyer if you would like to be involved.

This project is suitable for kids in Grade 2 and up, and kids in Grades 2-5 should attend accompanied by an adult.

As a wake-up and thank you to the many volunteers, muffins and coffee will be available at 9:00 am in the Westheights foyer. After that we’ll divide into our teams and head out to our pre-arranged locations, wrapping up at noon.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to sign up to be part of this practical application of loving our neighbours. What a great way to meet some residents before Westheights Kids heads over to lead a service the next morning, April 23rd!

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:37-40

“Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, ‘How can I help?’”  Romans 15:2 (MSG)
