The practice of internalizing scripture is key to what it means to live a life that is pleasing to God. If we want our lives to be about good things, then we need to be intentional about internalizing things that shape us in ways that are about what God cares about.

VERSES TO MEMORIZE

Message by Josh Mutter – July 14, 2019

ISAIAH 40:31

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Isaiah 40:31a … but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength …

Isaiah 40:1-2 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

  • THE COMFORT OF GOD IS THE CREATION OF NEW POSSIBILITIES

Isaiah 40:27-31

Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31a NIV …but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

Isaiah 40:31a NASB …yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength.

Matthew 16:24-25 NIV Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

HOPING IN THE LORD

1. EXAMINE OUR LIVES

2. EVALUATE OUR LIVES

3. EXCHANGE OUR LIVES

Isaiah 40:31 …but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
