Engaging With One Another
Message by Joshua Mutter – September 18, 2022
We want to be in growing relationships with one another.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other. John 15:12-17 NIV
Big Idea: Loving one another is essential to following Jesus.
… everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. – John 13:35 NIV
Our love for one another is to be characterized by humility and selflessness.
Our love for one another has a positive impact on us as well as on others.
Application:
- To love one another means that we put ourselves in a position to get to know others.
- Loving one another means that we don’t shy away from “real” conversations.
- Loving one another means that we meet each other’s practical needs.
- Loving one another means that we have grace for one another.
