PROVERBS: WISDOM & FRIENDSHIP

Message by Josh Mutter – July 23, 2023

Big Idea: Our friendships have the potential to make us better than we would otherwise be on our own.

Lesson 1: A few good friends are better than a crowd of acquaintances.

Proverbs 18:24 NIV  One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Lesson 2: It is okay to be selective when it comes to who our closest friends are.

Proverbs 12:26 NIV  The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Proverbs 13:20 NIV  Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Lesson 3: True friends are known for their faithfulness.

Proverbs 12:26 NIV  The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Proverbs 17:17 NIV  A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Lesson 4: We need friends who will tell us the hard truth.

Proverbs 12:26 NIV  The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Proverbs 27:6 NIV Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

Proverbs 19:20 NIV  Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.
