Dear Westheights Family,

On Sunday November 26 is the 45th anniversary of Westheights Community Church. As we reflect on our story, we celebrate the many ways that God has blessed us and we are excited about what the future holds as we pursue our mission to help people find and follow Jesus.

Whether you have attended Westheights for a few weeks, or many years, I am grateful that you are a part of our amazing church family!

  • Thank you for praying for one another and for our ministries.
  • Thank you for participating and volunteering. Things are better when we do them together.
  • Thank you for your financial support. As a church we can’t do what we do without your generosity.

Our vision is to be a vibrant community of followers of Jesus that serves our neighbours by meeting needs and showing love. As a church we recognize that there are some big needs in our community and we believe that a part of how we live out our commitment to Jesus, is by providing practical help.

Together, we have sought to help meet the needs of our neighbours a few different ways this year. In the winter we partnered with the Forest Heights Food Program to provide them with over 16,000 diapers and 35,000 baby wipes; enough to last them nearly 8 months. Our generosity supports the 172 households (657 individuals) in our neighbourhood who rely on this program. As I write this, we are preparing for our 17th Halloween for Hunger in support of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Over the years we have worked with our neighbours to provide over 43,000 meals to those struggling with food insecurity.

Anniversary Offering Project – A Better Tent City

In previous years we have asked you to consider giving a special offering to the work of our church as a part of our anniversary celebrations.  This year, the Board would like to encourage us to make a donation to the work of A Better Tent City who is working to provide housing and a sense of belonging to approximately 50 residents who have experienced chronic homelessness in Waterloo Region. Click here to make a donation to A Better Tent City and be sure to note “Westheights Anniversary” on your cheque or in the notation for your online donation. Together we can be a part of addressing homelessness in Waterloo Region.

We will be celebrating our anniversary on November 26 through a service that celebrates who we are and what we do together that will include a communion and a baptism.
