Join Pastor Char and Sarah at Westheights Church, Wednesday June 4th from 6:45pm – 9pm to watch MCC’s Introduction to Pow Wows Online Webinar, and have a discussion time together afterwards. This is a great opportunity for us to learn how to connect authentically with our Indigenous neighbours when attending Pow Wows. Please fill this form out so we know to expect you!
The webinar description from MCC’s website, “There are many places that non-Indigenous people are invited to listen, learn and participate in face-to-face ways with the Indigenous community. Pow Wows are an excellent starting place for non-Indigenous people who want to start a journey of putting listening into action. There are many Pow Wows across Ontario every year and, though many are outdoors in the summer, some are held inside in all seasons. Many people often go to several a year – an experience known as hitting the Pow Wow Trail.
All nations are welcome to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful and powerful experience of pow wows from music, dance, regalia, food, culture and ceremony. Often non-Indigenous people might feel a bit shy about going alone for the first time or doing the wrong thing, but Ontario’s Indigenous Neighbours team is here to help make this a little easier. Learn the basics on what to expect and how to participate, and then plan to attend a Pow Wow or two near you this summer/fall by checking out the Pow Wow calendar.”
