Message by Dave Patterson – August 17, 2025
Galatians 5:22-23a (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
Our God is immutable (see Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8)
By contrast, we are on a journey of transformation.
To be in Christ is to live by the Spirit.
Evidence of a genuine Christian believer is found in progressive inward change whereby the working of the Spirit of Christ results in behaviour consistent with the words and ways of Jesus.
Jesus + anything else = a warped Gospel
Note the tenor of Paul’s letter to the Galatians.
Paul replaces customs with lifestyle.
In Galatians 5, faithfulness means trustfulness, fidelity, loyalty, trustworthiness in one’s dealings with others; being a reliable person to those with whom we come in contact.
Faithfulness is hard in times of: grief, loss, strain, stress, illness, or self-focus.
