Message by Josh Mutter- Nov 2, 2025

Matthew 5:7 (NIV) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Big Idea: God’s mercy gives us new eyes, new hearts, and new choices.

  • The LORD, the LORD, compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. – Exodus 34:6-7 (NIV)
  • Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good. – Psalm 25:6-7 (NIV)

Jesus invites us to refocus our hearts on mercy.

Jesus invites us to discover the give-and-receive rhythm of mercy.

  •   Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. – Matthew 5:7 (NIV)
  •  And forgive us our debts,  as we also have forgiven our debtors. – Matthew 6:12 (NIV)
  •  For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. – Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)

Jesus invites us to show mercy by entering into the experiences of others.

Jesus invites us to practice mercy that knows no limits.

Mercy transforms us and gives us a new approach to relationships.

Mercy invites us to see ourselves, others, and God’s work in the world differently.

  • When have I felt God’s mercy in my life?
  • Who around me might be in need of my mercy right now?
  • How might stepping into someone else’s experience change the way we respond to them?
