NAMES OF HOPE: PRINCE OF PEACE

Message by Josh Mutter – Dec 7, 2025

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

Ephesians 2:14-16 (NLT)  For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.

Big Idea: The peace of Jesus brings reconciliation with God, with others, and with ourselves.

The peace of Jesus addresses the root cause of what is broken in our lives.
The peace of Jesus invites us to think beyond the things that seem to divide us.
The peace of Jesus is about making us new.
Jesus is the reliable source who helps us see what is true.

Closing Thoughts:

  • Pay attention to the kind of peace we are longing for.
  • We follow Jesus into the work of peacemaking.
