Mark 1:1 (NIV)  The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God…

Mark 1 (NIV)  The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”—
“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’” …

Big Idea: The Good News of Jesus invites us to rethink what we base our lives on.

The “beginning” Mark announces is an invitation to notice how God is bringing new life to our world.

The “good news” that we long for is not found in the claims of the established system.

Mark 1:1 (NIV)  The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God…

The Gospel of Mark invites us to reimagine what real power, peace and success look like.

Concluding Thought:

Mark 15:39 (NIV)  … when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he did, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
