Mark 1:1 (NIV) The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God…
Mark 2 (NIV) – A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” …
Big Idea: Jesus invites us to trade our “rightness” for the freedom of his presence.
Jesus dismantles the idea of God as a distant, system-bound authority.
God’s presence isn’t diminished by the world; it’s revealed there.
When spiritual rhythms don’t produce joy, they’ve become a chore.
We don’t rest to attain God’s approval; we rest to enjoy the approval he has already given us.
Concluding Thoughts:
- How might my “rightness” be keeping me from recognizing how God is right beside me?
- What is keeping me from connecting the people around me to Jesus?
