James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,  – James 1:1a (NIV)

To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings. – James 1:1b (NIV)

Big Idea: Because God is at work, we can see our lives clearly even in difficult seasons.

 

James 1:1-18 (NIV) “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance…”

God uses even the hardships we would never choose to shape us into people who are more like Jesus (vs 1-4).

 

God gives wisdom to help us see our circumstances from His perspective (vs 5-12).

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. – James 1:12 (NIV)

God is not the source of temptation but the source of every good gift that leads to life (vs 13-18).

 When life feels fast and unclear, slow down and ask God for wisdom.
