“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6

READ

Those who ‘hunger and thirst’ represents those who desperately want something. They are focused on fulfilling that desire. So to thirst after righteousness is an urgent and intense longing to be like Jesus and live out His lifestyle. It includes a strong sense of justice, purity, and holiness. The righteousness we search for is not a self-righteousness where we feel as if we have it all figured out, but where we constantly strive for the holiness of God in our lives.

The promise that those who thirst for righteousness ‘will be filled’ may be the easiest to understand of the beatitudes. Those who desire and long for righteousness with such intensity will find it and be filled by it. Just as those who search with intensity for food or water will be satisfied when they find it, so will God fill us and satisfy us with His righteousness.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me,” (Matthew 19:14) yet many children would not know how to come if it were not for the SPICE program. The Scholarship Program for International Children’s Education (SPICE) operates as a sponsorship program for Brethren in Christ children in Bihar, Orissa, and Nepal. Today, 8 hostels house nearly 1000 children.

Sponsor a child. Sponsorship provides clean water, nutritious meals, education, group housing, nurturing Christian staff and an opportunity to learn about Jesus. By sponsoring you will receive a photo allowing you to pray specifically for one of the children.
