“He said to them, ‘Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.’” Mark 4:21-23

READ

This point of this parable seems clear at a glance. The things which are meant to be known or shown should be brought out into the open. However, keep in mind, that in the context of this passage Jesus is talking about the kingdom of God.

It may be important to remember that the ultimate goal is to bring the glory of God’s kingdom into the open in the same way that we only know what light a lamp can bring by bringing it out of obscurity and uncovering it. We can only know how great the kingdom of God is by revealing it and bringing it out into the open as it demonstrated in our lives through acts of love and compassion.

Christ’s teachings about the kingdom of heaven are sometimes very difficult. But we can’t always expect that the things of God will be easy to understand. We need to remember that God is no longer obscure to us as He has been revealed to us through His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore, we should help reveal God to others also.
