It is Easter and it was fitting for Pastor Bill to conclude his series on the Apostles’ Creed with a message on the resurrection. What a beautiful day it was to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!

CREED: I BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION
Message by Bill Johnston – April 1, 2018
“I believe in … the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”
1 Corinthians 15:12-19
1. THE UN-WELCOMED “D” WORD
Genesis 2:15-17 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it, but the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you surely will die.”
2. RESURRECTION LIFE
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.
3. RESURRECTION HOPE
1 Peter 1:3 (NASB) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
4. THE RETURN OF CHRIST
1 Thessalonians 4:15-16 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God.
5. THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY
1 Corinthians 15:42-44 Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.
6. A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN
Revelation 21:3-5 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.
AN INVITATION
John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
