Sr. Highs at Operation Christmas Child Warehouse

On Thursday, November 25th there will be not be the usual youth meeting. Instead we will be meeting at the Operation Christmas Child Warehouse. OCC distributes shoe boxes filled with things like toys, school supplies and hygiene items in order to bless the lives of children living in desperate situations – and we’re excited that we get to be a part of that! YouthQuest Fundraising Dinner

You are invited to join us on Saturday, November 13th at 6:30pm at Westheights Community Church for a full roast beef dinner, including all the trimmings! All funds raised will go towards the registration for the 18 students who are planning to attend the YouthQuest, a biennial youth conference celebrating our Brethren in Christ family. (more…)

The numbers are in… Together we collected 2048lbs of non-perishable food for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region! None of it would have been possible without the over fifty volunteers who went door to door in the cold, drove all around Forest Heights, unloaded heavy bags of food and built complicated cardboard boxes. Thanks to our many, many volunteers, Westheights’ Halloween for Hunger 2010 was a tremendous success! We had a great time meeting new people, working with old friends, getting to see some really fun costumes, enjoying some fresh air and exercise, connecting with our community and – of course – collecting a ton of food for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region! Halloween for Hunger is right around the corner! It’s not too late to sign up to join us as we go door to door collecting non-perishable food items for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. As well, please be sure to bring non-perishable food of your own to add to what we collect on Sunday evening. Last year we collected 2,226 pounds from the neighbourhood, and we’re hoping to top that this year! (more…)
WANTED: Missions Team Looking for Sports Equipment Donations

In February of 2011, a team of eleven people from Westheights will make their way to Nicaragua in South America. Each team member is allowed two full-size suitcases on the plane and the hope is that each person will being one suitcase filled with personal items, and another suitcase filled with items to give to Nicaraguans. Junior High Students at Bingemans

Go higher! We’ll be heading to Bingemans on Friday, October 15, 2010 to make use of their high ropes course and rock climbing wall. Climb up as high as you dare while rock climbing or take on the ropes course and travel horizontally two stories in the air – all while safely secured in a harness! (more…)
YouthQuest Fundraising Bake Sales and Supper

The Westheights senior high students will be hosting several fundraisers between now and the end of the year to raise money for YouthQuest 2010. This is an amazing event in which Westheights gets a chance to connect with the people in our community, collect food for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region and have a great time all at once!
