We send our condolences to John Dunnington on the passing of his father, Kenneth Dunnington.  Our hearts go out to John, Beverly and family at this loss.  May they find strength and comfort in the Lord in their time of sorrow.

DUNNINGTON, Kenneth William Passed away peacefully at Lanark Heights Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Ruth Dunnington (nee Haynes) for over 66 years. Loving father of Adrienne Hawkins (Richard), Kathleen White (Peter), Margaret Dunnington, John Dunnington (Beverly) and Robert Dunnington (Marion). Special Grandpa to Pamela Richardson (Mark), Heather Hawkins (Hans), Eric and Angela White, Adam Bremner, Michael, Stephen, Sarah, Nicholas and Samantha Dunnington. Brother of Ruth Schlacter (Joe), Shirley Dobney (Harry), Jack Dunnington (Greta) and Alva Kalbfleisch. Special lifelong friend of Carl Metz. Predeceased by his parents William and Mabel (nee Carnochan); brother Douglas; and sisters Muriel, Jean, Marion and Audrey.

Dad was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family and his country. He was a proud member of the RCAF during WWII and a member of Wing 404 in Waterloo. He had many stories to tell about WWII and even more to tell about his “terrific” grandchildren.

Ken’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. There will be a funeral Mass for Ken at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 49 Blueridge Ave., Kitchener on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo followed by a reception in the church hall. Memorial donations to the Waterloo Regional Downs Syndrome Society would be appreciated (cards are available at the funeral home).
