Hello again everyone. So we had a great discussion last night about this core value. It says this, “We value integrity in relationships and mutual accountability in an atmosphere of grace, love, and acceptance.” This is the one called, “belonging to a community of faith.” There was a lot of great stuff that came up during this discussion.

We talked quite a bit about the balance between loving acceptance, and holding each other accountable. These seem to be two conflicting ideas. What does everyone think? Feel free to add your thoughts. How do we strike the proper balance between holding each other accountable to a higher moral standard, and showing forgiveness, acceptance and love above all things?

I think this is an interesting question. So where’s the balance?  Is it possible to strike a balance?  Is a balance even something we should be worrying about? Is there another way? Let’s discuss more.

Another topic that came up was the idea of holding the leadership of the church to a higher moral standard. What do you guys think is reasonable to expect from the leadership of your church? Should the leadership be expected to have more integrity than others? Why or why not?
