WORSHIP FULLY (Julie LaMarche)

This year I’ve decided not to do the running around to plays and concerts and other busy things I usually do around Christmas, and focus more on Jesus and the meaning of Christmas.

I’ve got my shopping done but I didn’t buy many things because the focus is on Jesus, and if somebody loves you, they will understand that.  I’m going to take time to sit back and not rush around because when you’re rushing around, you get so caught up and then Christmas is over.  I’ve decided to focus on doing things for people, thoughtful things that don’t cost money.  I’ll look for a need instead of getting so caught up. I want to give more of myself to people instead of things.  One example is filling a shoebox for Samaritan’s Purse.

I really want this year to feel different from other years – I want to experience Christmas.

Luke 1:46-49

Challenge (by Devon Wagler)

Nothing changed for Mary’s social standing after the birth of her son, she still lived with the social stigma of having had a child before her marriage.  Even after her marriage, many of those she grew up with would have looked down on her.

Who are those people that look down on you? Mary was able to see the blessing in her own life despite the fact that those same situations are what brought her trouble.  Can you see the blessings in what brings you trouble?

Quote

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”  (Charles Dickens, from A Christmas Carol)
