Our deepest condolences to Linda and Aldo DiMarco on the passing of Linda’s mother, Esther Korn, who passed away on Wednesday. Our sympathies also to Matt DiMarco who loved his nanny deeply. May God be a comfort to the family at their time of loss.

KORN, Esther (nee Hertrich) Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 with her family at her side in her 78th year. Predeceased by her father Hugo Hertrich and mother Martha Huger. Esther was the youngest of ten children. Beloved wife of Fred Korn for eleven years. Loving mother of Carol Higgins (Paul Pflug), Debra Schell (George), Linda DiMarco (Eraldo), Gary Fisher (Karen), Mary Singer (Lorne). Cherished Nanny of Jennifer Dewar (Robert), Scott Higgins (Micheline), Michael Higgins (Lindsay), Matthew and Johnny DiMarco, David, Kayla, Bradley, Nathan and Carley Fisher and Daniel, Jordan and Adam Wickens. Great-grandmother of Bobby, Jack, Zoey and Norah. Our wonderful mother devoted her entire life to raising her five children, always giving of herself and asking for nothing in return. We will all miss her dearly.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Freeport Third Floor Hospice Unit nurses, especially Megan, Carol Ann, and Stephanie for all being so kind, loving, and gentle with our mother in her final days. Also, a special thank you to Drs. Schwartz, Ward, Adler, Mary Jackson, and Stuart Smith for their care. We all love you Mom and we will miss you forever.

Esther’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service for Esther will be held at the New Apostolic Church, Margaret Ave., Kitchener, on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. A private family interment will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Care Program or the Palliative Care Unit at Freeport Hospital would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
