“Again He said, ‘What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.’” Mark 4:30-32

Even the most recent scientific genetic testing has not been able to discover how a mustard seed, which is so small, can possibly grow into a plant which is 6-10 feet high. It is an incredible mystery. The seed somehow has the power to dramatically change itself into something else. It’s amazing that something so large and strong can grow from something so small.

Planting such a small seed and trusting that it will grow into something so large and important may not make much sense to us, but with a little thought it becomes more clear. The mustard seed in your life right now may be something so small that you think that God couldn’t possibly care about it. It could be some small act of kindness toward another person that no one noticed. But God can take that small act and turn it into something great and strong and significant in your life or the life of others. In kingdom work, nothing is small.
