“He also told them this parable: ‘Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.’” Luke 6:39-40

READ

In these verses, Jesus continues on the theme of being non-judgmental and forgiving people. Jesus gives a short parable with a clear point. If you’ve ever actually tried this then you know how difficult it is. Blindfold yourself and then blindfold another person and try to lead them around your home. It wouldn’t work would it? So the meaning of this parable becomes clear.

The point is that people, who don’t recognize their own blindness, then think they can lead others in the right path, go astray and take others with them. The lesson is that we should stay focused and make sure that we are walking in the example of Christ. Then we can help others. And we must always remember that it is not our responsibility to lead people to us, but it is our responsibility to lead people to God and help people to follow God by pointing them to Him.  This reminds me of something we say at Westheights, helping people to find and follow Jesus.
