For children, school is once again around the corner. To get all the required school supplies, it can cost a family $50. For the homeless families at Mary’s Place emergency shelter, this amount is unaffordable.

A local not-for-profit organization, “2Serve,” is collecting backpacks and school supplies to help the residents of Mary’s Place. It has been the dream of “2Serve” founders, Brenda Kumornik and Patricia Archambault, to create an organization that will enable people to serve like Jesus, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others” (Mark 10:45 NLT). This back-to-school backpack drive is their first of many projects in their mission to serve multiple needs of the Waterloo Region.

Your donation of supplies can mean many needy children will be ready for the school year. The goal is to fill at least 35 backpacks for children grades 1-8. Either buy any items on the list, or fill a whole backpack. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and can be handed directly to Brenda Kumornik at church service on any Sunday morning from July 27-August 24.

Deadline for donations is Sunday, August 24.
