Below is a poem that Krista wrote for her grandmother.

G R A N D M A  JO

I would say to you now that I love you,

I would tell you all that I’ve learned

like love unconditional, well-manered principals

and that trust is not given but earned.

Your life was a story of strength,

raising a son all on your own,

you never complained or laid any blame

no more stoic a woman was known.

There’s something to be said about a kindness that’s quiet

never asking for much in return,

you were a beautiful soul, now our lives have a hole

These are some of the things that I’ve learned.

You taught me that legacy isn’t measured in dollars

not in assets nor number of friends

It’s who we are in our hearts and how we treat others

that really counts in the end.

So whenever your sister your son or grandchildren

lends money or saves a stray cat,

whenever kindness is known or true strength is shown

know that you’ve had a hand in all that.

Rest easy now grandma we love you,

we’ll see you again someday,

but until then we cherish your lessons and memories

and in our hearts you will stay.
