We were privileged to have Charlie Mashinter as our guest speaker. Charlie continued with our Verses to Memorize series, speaking on the Psalm 23 and he challenged us to see this familiar chapter with new eyes.
Charlie Mashinter is Team Leader of BIC Canada Community Churches. Prior to coming into this position, he was the Lead Pastor for almost 19 years at Wainfleet BIC Church, a growing and vibrant church in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario. He carries a passion to see local BIC Community Churches across Canada reach their kingdom potential as centres of spiritual life and blessing. He enjoys working with Pastors and church leaders to see this picture of a preferable future become reality.

PSALM 23
Psalm 23 NIV The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley (of the shadow of death), I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
BIG IDEA
Sometimes we have concocted some assumptions about God that just are not true and these assumptions, if not corrected, can keep us from experiencing some really good things.
1. YOU CAN REST
Psalm 23:2-3 NIV He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
2. YOU CAN BE VULNERABLE
Psalm 23:4-5 NIV Even though I walk through the darkest valley (of the shadow of death), I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
3. YOU ARE LOVED
Psalm 23:6 NIV Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
