Back in February of 2018 we hosted our first Westheights Worship Circle, when a group of musicians and singers (38 in all!) gathered together to sing praises to God in an intimate acoustic setting. The feeling from everyone who participated was that we needed to do it again, so we have scheduled our second Worship Circle for Sunday, November 3rd, beginning at 6:30 pm.
We would love to have even more people join in with their musical instruments and voices to express our love for Jesus through songs of worship. No experience (or even talent!) is necessary, just a desire to come together to make a joyful noise to God. Everyone of all musical abilities is invited to be part of this gathering. While we will be meeting in the sanctuary of the church, the evening will be mainly unplugged, so most instruments will need to be of the acoustic variety. However, we can accommodate some electric contributions, so just let us know ahead of time. To help us plan for the evening we’re asking people to please sign up at the Welcome Desk in the foyer.
Songs charts will be made available prior to the event for those who would appreciate that (although you are under no obligation to practise ahead of time). We also are welcoming suggestions from participants – if you have a favourite song, or a new song that you would like us to try, please send along your recommendation to terrykreutzkamp@westheights.org . We would also like to encourage vocalists to consider bringing along a short reading related to worship such as a favourite scripture, poem, or personal reflection which could be shared during our gathering.
A song circle is an excellent place to practise your instrument or learn from other musicians as it’s a safe, relaxed, and enjoyable environment for players or singers of all ages and abilities to explore and worship together. So whether you’re a beginner or a virtuoso, whether you’re 8 or 80, if you sing like a bird or more like a frog, all are welcome to come join in the fun of a worship circle on Sunday, November 3rd, starting at 6:30.
