The Beatitudes give us a vision of what the Kingdom of God is all about, and an invitation to accept this vision and become a part of this counter-cultural thing that God is doing. How can we apply this vision to our lives? What does it mean to be “salt and light”?

Kingdom Invitation

Message by Josh Mutter – May 2, 2021

Matthew 5:13-16 NIV

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus gives his followers the mission of being embodied Kingdom invitations.

Followers of Jesus are to be “salt” in how we are a Kingdom-influence in our world for good.

Jesus’ disciples are not just carrying the light of the Kingdom, but they are the light of the Kingdom.
