Dear Westheights Family,

Over the past 17 months, we have used the word ‘pivot’ a lot to describe all of the adjustments and changes that have taken place during the course of the pandemic. Despite all of this change, we have celebrated God’s continued presence and how he has been at work in our church family. God has been good!

In our service today, I announced another pivot that is coming our way. Christina Main has decided to step down from her role as Director of Student Ministries. Christina has served in this role for two years and during that time she has done a fantastic job with our students. Christina’s role with us has been part time and the decision to step down enables her to commit herself more fully to her work as a psychotherapist. Christina’s last Sunday will be on September 19th, with her last day in the office being on September 23rd.

If you know Christina, you will know that she attended Westheights before she became a part of our staff team and it is her plan to continue attending Westheights going forward. This is good news!

An announcement like this raises some practical questions and so let me fill you in on what we know so far.

  • First, we love our students and we have no intention of letting them down. Because of this, I will be involved in working with our volunteers to make sure that our weekly student ministry program will continue as we determine what the next steps are for these ministries.
  • Second, while there are many details to iron out, the plan is that we student ministries will resume in-person in mid-to-late September. Please stay tuned for more details.

If you have any questions about this process, please direct them to me.

At a later point, we will make some time in one of our services to let Christina know how important she has been to our church community. But for now, I will simply say to Christina that we are grateful for you and all the ways you have contributed to our church while you have been in this role. Thank you so much.
