Parable of the Rich Fool

Message by Josh Mutter — September 19, 2021

Luke 13:18-21 NIV

Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”

Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

The Kingdom of God grows from what seems small and insignificant.

The Kingdom of God is subversive

The Kingdom of God is a place of shelter and rest.

The Kingdom of God nurtures the wellbeing of others.

The mustard shrub reminds us to offer the peace and rest of the Kingdom to others.

The yeast reminds us that the nourishing love of the Kingdom is something that we can give to others.
