Spiritual Cheerleaders

Message by Josh Mutter – January 30, 2022

Big Idea: We want to be a church of spiritual cheerleaders for one another.

1. We are spiritual cheerleaders when we pray for the spiritual lives of one another.

2. We are spiritual cheerleaders when we work on understanding scripture together.

3. We are spiritual cheerleaders when we help each other apply the teachings of Jesus to daily life.

We are spiritual cheerleaders when we pray for the spiritual lives of one another.

… since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. – Colossians 1:9-12 NIV

We are spiritual cheerleaders when we work on understanding scripture together.

 …teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. – Matthew 28:29 NIV

 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,  to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up  until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV

We are spiritual cheerleaders when we help each other apply the teachings of Jesus to daily life.

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. – Hebrews 3:13 NIV
