Hello Westheights Family,

As we wrap up 2022, the Church Board would like to share what we are working on and what could be in store for 2023.

As you are aware, our  Director of Student Ministries position remains vacant.  As a Board, we share the urgency to fill this position.  We understand that, while our current approach has been energetic and effective, it is not what we think is best for our students over the long term. Since October 2021, we have advertised for this position four times – the current posting can be found here. To date we have not yet been able to find an available, qualified applicant who would be a good fit for our needs.  We have re-examined whether we are being too particular about the “fit” and are confident that we are appropriately balancing the urgent need to fill the position and the desire to find a reasonable fit with our values and culture. We are grateful for your continued prayer, and ask that you make use of your networks to share the opportunity.

In our previous blog post we noted that facility improvements are high on our agenda.  Right now we are considering accessibility improvements to be a top priority, as well as considering other facility improvements to enable the continued improvement of how we deliver on our mission and vision in the years to come. In the New Year, you can anticipate us seeking  the input of the congregation as we consider options for our physical space and how it may need to change to support our ministries.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for March 26, 2023 and the subject of facility improvements will likely be a topic of discussion.  While all who are part of the Westheights church family are welcome to participate in the discussion, only those who are members of the church are permitted to vote at the AGM.  Now may be an opportune time for those who are relatively new to Westheights and have become part of our community to take the next step and become members. If you are interested in finding out more about membership, please speak with Pastor Josh.

We are grateful to God for continuing to bless our church during challenging times, and we are grateful to all of you for being such an important part of our church community.
