Last Week of Kids Camp
1Sorry that it’s been so long since I last blogged. This week was really busy for me. Two of my friends from camp were program directing for the first time every last week, so I spent much of my evenings off helping them with games, or participating with the children in campfires and undergrounds (our worship sessions). I thoroughly enjoyed having so many kids from our church up here last week. (more…)

Bad News…
0The bad news is that the kids left today. It was sad to say goodbye to these kids that we had built relationships with over the week. Its hard to believe that one of four weeks of kids camp is over – it went by so fast. It was a great week over all. All the kids had a great time and as the director of the week asked the kids on the bus if they were ready to go home, the majority of the kids said no.
We do have one more piece of bad news though. Matt R fell while playing the game last night and hurt his ankle. (more…)
My Favourite Place…

Hump Day!
1Hey everyone!
It’s Amanda and Matt writing to you guys, giving you an update.
It is Camp Kahquah Hump Day today which means we are half way through the week! YEAH!
Amanda:
So this week I have 6 girls in my cabin and they are the older girls. The week started off with secluded groups of pairs in the cabin, each girl having their own “bestie”. But as the week has progress, all the girls have opened up to each other to accept everyone. We are now one big happy family!

The Kids are Here!
2It’s the end of the first day of kids camp and I’m already tired. But it’s a really good tired. When the bell rang around 1pm the adrenaline of knowing the craziness of the summer was about to begin kicked in for all the staff. Some of the kids whose parents drove them up were already here, but once the bus got here you knew the summer was about to actually started. And as you can imagine everyone had a crazy busy day. Matt R, Amanda and Tiffany are all cabin leading this week so their kids are obviously keeping them busy. Matt R already has lots of young girls hanging all over him during free swim (it’s very fun to watch him being attacked from the guard chair – every once in a while I’ll blow my whistle and try to save him). Awesome!
2Our blogs so far have been really random stories or thoughts about our experience so far, so I thought I would take some time to give you some specifics of what we’re all doing. This week is our staff orientation week so it’s been a lot of team building and skills development. Our theme is “awesome” – not exactly sure why but maybe because we want everything we do to be awesome. Our evening worship sessions have been focusing on the idea that we have to have a relationship right with God first and then with each other second before we can effectively impact the children’s lives. The staff has really grown closer and supported each other as we have grown stronger in our faith through these sessions. (more…)
