It is an exciting time for shoppers in KW. The much anticipated Thrift On Kent shop is opening on Monday, October 28! This is exciting news at Westheights Church for several reasons…
To the nay-sayers who are thinking, “Thrift? I don’t do thrift.” BUT have you ever given thrift a chance? Thrift on Kent receives and sorts all its donations so the shelves are laced with top quality and trendy items. More than half of my closet is thrift and I’m excited about that for several reasons:
- saves you money, cha-ching
- re-distributes our clothing, furniture, housewares, sporting goods, etc to be ultimate stewards of our resources. God gave this stuff to us; let’s use it to its fullest potential
- all profits go to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Let me explain..
This isn’t just another thrift store – it is a MCC shop. What does this mean? When you purchase an item at Thrift On Kent the funds are literally are going to help others in our community and globally. Many, many volunteers provide their time to help keep expenses minimal, so all that trendy gear you are purchasing, isn’t just a deal, but the money is literally ‘a gift to the world’. Plus, since it is a charity, there are no taxes on your purchases!
