Dave and Anne Owen attended Westheights many years ago and were well-loved and appreciated for their ministry. We are sorry to announce the sudden passing away of Dave Owen on Friday, Jan 10, 2014. He is fondly remembered by many at Westheights. We pray for God’s peace and comfort for his wife Anne, and sons Tim and James.

Dave passed away at Grand River Hospital on Friday, age 58. Husband of Anne, father of Tim and James.

Visitation will be from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, Jan 14 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. The funeral will be held at Westheights Community Church, 82 Westheights Drive, Kitchener, on Wednesday, Jan 15 at 1 pm, with Pastor David Illman officiating.

OWEN, David 1955 – 2014 David Owen (or Dave as he was known by all) was a loving husband, a caring father, a hard worker, a scout master, a happy-go-lucky fisherman, an avid dog lover, a savant to the outdoors, a wise teacher, and a man who had a deep love of the Lord. A man of many friends belonging to various ages and backgrounds, Dave’s main focus in life was to make people happy and helping others. Carpentry being a very important part of his life, David was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, local 785. He enjoyed working with his hands, a fantastic day of golf, online companionship in social media, and had a special place in his heart for the music that moved him. He loved to cook for others and was well known for his amazing curry. He passed away at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital after a hard fought battle with leukemia on January 10, 2014 at the age of 58 years. Dave Owen, loving husband of Anne Owen (nee) Surman. Dear father of Timothy and James (of Minot, North Dakota and Kitchener, Ontario respectively). Loving Grandpa to Jason, Nathan and Elizabeth. Fondly remembered by his siblings Richard (and Karen) of Baden, Barbara (and Shannon) of Elora, and Robert of England. Sadly missed by his nephews Christopher, Michael (and Jess), and Alexander as well as his niece, Samantha. Dave will also be remembered by his dear cousin Angela (and Neil) and his canine companion Bosco. Predeceased by his parents Ken and Barbara Owen. Friends are invited to share their memories of Dave with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Westheights Community Church (B.I.C.), 82 Westheights Dr., Kitchener on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Illman officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation to follow.
