World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement which started in the USA in 1887 quickly spread around the world. Today it is celebrated on the first Friday in March in over 170 countries, including more than 3,500 communities across Canada.

This year Westheights Community Church is one of the hosting churches of this event.

Through this Day of Prayer, we affirm our faith in Jesus Christ and engage with the whole world; are enriched by the faith experience of other countries and cultures; share the burdens of other people, praying with them and for them; and use our own talents in the service of God’s world. Each year the prayer service is prepared by a committee of women from a different county. This year the service was prepared by the Women of Cuba.
