Carnival Stories and Feedback

You know the carnival was a huge hit when we receive unsolicited community feedback, days after the event! Following are two neighbours who wanted to send a message to our great Team Westheights. (more…)

Eleven year old Matt picked up his brand new bicycle today which he won at the Westheights Family Carnival in our annual draw. Matt was thrilled to see his new ride, calling it “the best bike ever!!” (more…)

This Carnival Was The Best Ever

0

This year’s carnival was the best ever. With the huge number of volunteers we were able to wonderfully serve the 3200 guests who attended the event. I had a great time and feel refreshed from the experience. Truthfully, I felt sorry for all of the volunteers who had to go to work on Monday morning (including my wife). (more…)

Carnival Photos 2

As promised, these are photos of our neighbours, enjoying a fun day of community and connection. (Thanks to Nel for these great photos!)

We received an email from one of our carnival guests: “New to the area and strolling into your family carnival was a wonderful welcome to the neighbourhood for my son and myself. We had a great time, appreciate all your wonderful gifts and time and information from info booth attendant, Nel. She was very kind. And, I wish I had looked at the name tag of the fellow trying to answer my questions and keep up with ice cream hand outs at the same time. Lol. He did a great job too! Again, thank you and we’ll be seeing you again soon! PS. Your choice of music also drew my interest to the church! Very modern and upbeat happy and hopeful! Loved it!” (more…)

To relive some of the carnival moments, here are some photos of Team Westheights in action. Tomorrow, we plan to post photos focusing on our carnival guests and their response to the carnival. I always look forward to Sunday. But this Sunday is really exciting because it is our seventh annual Westheights Family Carnival. It is a very exciting outreach for many reasons. The most impressive aspect of the event is the huge number of Westheights volunteers who have said, “I want to be a part – just let me know what you want me to do.” (more…)

A Party With A Purpose

0

I was reading in Mark 2 and it is the story of the calling of Levi. Jesus says to him, Come follow me and Matthew did. Just after that we read about this interesting first step that Matthew took as a Jesus follower. He got some of his friends together. He invited them to a party. (more…)

A Random (Some Planning Involved) Act of Kindness

0

Okay, to describe the seventh annual Westheights Family Carnival as a random act is a stretch because a lot of planning goes into this event. But the planning aside, it is the generous giving of time (personal acts of kindness) from the wonderful volunteers in the church that makes this event so amazing. (more…)

Let’s Build A Bridge

0

A few years ago my family visited San Francisco for a summer vacation. One of the places we visited was the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and California. (more…)
