Strength is not something we talk about much in the church. We talk about grace, wisdom, love friendships and family, but strength, power, justice, and sovereignty sometimes gets ignored. This is strange since we believe in a God who is absolutely and completely all powerful. But things don’t stop there. The Bible makes it clear that all the power of God is made available to us through the Holy Spirit. What does this mean for the way we approach everyday life? Here’s a good way to make sure your business fails. Treat your employees better than you treat your customers. Or is it? I guess it depends on how well you treat your employees. If you treat your employees like garbage, then it’s likely your employees will too. I wonder if this is the kind of concept Paul had when he wrote this to the Galatians. I think we all understand the wisdom and the importance of doing good to everyone. But have you ever wondered why there is that little line ‘especially those in the family of faith?’ Sometime I feel as if we should be doing good to everyone especially those outside of the family of faith. 0Reflection:
Have you ever wondered what would happen if a tree tried to grow on its own power. If the tree suddenly said to the water, the sun, the ground, the insects and the animals, “I’m done with you now, I think that I’ve got just about everything I need from you to keep me going. In fact, you might be holding me back at this point, I’m going to try it on my own from now.”
Well, you probably haven’t considered it because its ridiculous. As soon as the tree stops taking in sunlight, water and nutrients from the ground it dies. As soon as the tree dies it no longer creates the oxygen needed by so many other things. In the same way we need to have people around us, (more…)
