The results are in and we had a record-breaking year! Thanks to our amazing Westheights volunteers and our generous Forest Heights neighbours, we collected a whopping 3,049 pounds of food for Waterloo region families facing food insecurity. Add to that the cash donations we also received, we contributed the equivalent of 3,205 pounds! Go, Westheights Church and our wonderful neighbours!
When we convert those pounds of food to meals, through our efforts, this year alone we were able to provide 2,570 meals for our community. Over 10 years of Halloween for Hunger collections, we have collected 22,251 pounds of food which amounts to 17,384 meals.
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region expressed great appreciation at the generosity of Westheights Church and our neighbours and sent this message:
“What an amazing effort by Westheights Community Church! The weight of your food donation alone, this year, totalled 3,049 lbs! Wow! When we convert dollars directly to pounds of food, $1 is equivalent to 2.5 lbs of food. This makes the grand total 3,205 lbs! Such an amazing achievement! Please pass a huge thank you on to your congregation and the neighbours of Westheights. Your time and effort are so impactful in supporting our efforts to ensure no one goes hungry.”
